What is Profhilo®?
Profhilo® is an injectable hyaluronic acid gel which action restores moisture within the dermis of the skin. Profhilo® is used for treatment of the face and neck for contours redefinition and laxity remodelling.
How does it work?
Profhilo® contains ultra-pure Hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is naturally present in the human body whose primary function is maintaining the correct tissue hydration. Small injections of Profhilo are injected superficially into the dermal/subcutaneous layer of the skin. Facial and neck treatments involve 10 injection sites, 5 on each side. The product diffuses progressively across the face to enhance natural and long lasting dermal renewal.
Profhilo® acts through a corrective/filling action of natural and induced cutaneous depressions. It intervenes in the physiological process of skin aging, the effects of which include reduced skin hydration, the alteration of elastic fibres and collagen of the dermis, with loss of turgor and skin tone. It also intervenes in the dermal tissue repair process, in cases of scars resulting from superficial cutaneous trauma (e.g. acne and chicken pox scars).

Results
Some people may notice some improvement after the first treatment. However, the true results are visible around 4 weeks after your second treatment.
Appointment time
A typical Profhilo® treatment of the face will take around 45 minutes, which is inclusive of a full consultation before your treatment.
Downtime
Often referred to as a lunchtime treatment as there is very little downtime. There can be some small bumps and localised redness at the injection points after your treatment. This is very common and will resolve within 48 hours. As with any injection, there is a risk of bruising although this is less common. Any bruising should resolve within 72 hours.

- Results typically last up to 6 months.
- A further treatment is recommended at 6-12 months to maintain results.
Is Profhilo® the same as Dermal Fillers?
Profhilo® is not the same as a dermal filler. Profhilo does not add volume or change the shape of the face. Both products contain hyaluronic acid however, Profhilo contains highly purified hyaluronic acid which stimulates your natural collagen and elastin production through the slow release of hyaluronic acid.
Does the procedure hurt?
The small injections may sting a little however, the needles used for injections are small so any pain is reduced. Numbing cream is applied to the injection site areas of the skin prior to your treatment to reduce any discomfort. Some clients may experience slight tenderness and mild swelling at the injection sites for up to 72 hours after the treatment. Any concerns about your procedure can be discussed in detail during your consultation.
